A studio for the bath.
A note

Athan,

I moved up from Adelaide last December, and I’ve been building this out of Abbotsford, a few streets from you.

For a while I’ve been quietly making a short list of people I’d want close to it early, more for their eye than anything else. Your name kept coming back.

What follows isn’t a pitch. It’s the world I’m building, laid out plainly, so you can see it before we ever speak. If it lands, I’d love your thinking. And a coffee, if you’re open to one.

The world

There is an old room in every house. The oldest one, with a door that locks from the inside. You run the water hot, and the day stays on the other side of it.

Most of us don’t stay in it long. Not for want of loving a bath. For want of a reason to stay.

Tero is the reason. A studio for the bath: sound, breath and spoken word, composed to be heard in warm water and nowhere else. Released the way records are, named and dated, only when there’s something to say.

The turn

The timing is the part I keep checking. The market is turning, from cold to warm and from the quick fix to the long form. Four numbers I come back to.

-61% & -74%
The fall in annual downloads of the two biggest meditation apps between 2018 and 2024. Both have cut staff. Roughly one user in twenty is still there 30 days after downloading.
5M+
Paid subscriptions on Substack in 2025, with publications earning money doubling in the year to April 2026. Long form is what people now pay for.
6 in 10
Podcast listeners who prefer episodes over an hour long. Multi-hour episodes hold close to 70 per cent completion. The appetite for depth left the middle, not the market.
Cold, to warm
The thermal industry’s growth has moved from cold shock to heat: saunas, bathhouses, contrast bathing. In surveys, four in five people never get past a cold shower. Warm water has no barrier at all.

The shape of it

Tero grows in three phases.

  • The studiophase one  ·  the software

A membership of audio, made for warm water. Ambient sound, breath and spoken word, released like records, in five catalogue families: SOUND, BREATH, WORDS, ATTENTION and STILLNESS.

The first release in every series is free.
  • The consumablesphase two

FATHOM first, a mineral soak of Zechstein magnesium and Australian pink lake salt. For the long soak, not the quick rinse. Then scents, oils, and everything else the bath asks for.

  • The hardwarephase three

A bath for one, with sound engineered into the vessel, felt through the body as much as heard. The acoustic groundwork is quietly done: bench-tested, feasible, a working technical specification. Mechanical integration is in selection across three Melbourne engineering houses, and TERO IMMERSION™ is filed as the umbrella above it: hardware, spatial, hospitality. The debut ambition is the design weeks: Melbourne, Sydney, Paris.

    Tero bath, concept render
A potential render. The design is indicative, to be confirmed with the industrial designer.

The studio comes first. The rest follows the water.

Already made

For something that hasn’t launched, a lot of it already exists.

The studio
I built it myself, with AI, having never written software. These are real screens and live recordings from the build, captured 3 August 2026.
The identity
A full brand system, made with Fortem: the mark, one typeface, the guidelines you’re reading it in. A high-end Shopify build lands late August; the brand goes live on socials in September.
The names
TERO™ and TERO IMMERSION™ filed in Australia after clearance searches. The IP treated as brand equity from day one.
The film
Shot on a set, by a cinematographer. Every frame is real.
Where it stands

The studio is all but finished. The identity is done. FATHOM is in development with the manufacturer. The billing rails are tested. The bath moves quietly behind it all.

Melbourne. The first release to the world, October 2026.

Why you

Honestly, it’s simple. You’re next door, and you did the thing I’m trying to do.

You took something people had stopped looking at and made it feel considered, and wanted. That’s the job I’m attempting with the bath, and you did it from a few streets away.

This is my first business. Most of it I’m learning as I go: how to build a brand, how to launch it properly, all the unknowns you only meet once you’re inside them. When you were starting out, I’d guess you had a few people a step ahead who helped you see round corners. That’s what I’m after now, the right few people around me as I build this.

I’m not after money, or a title on a page. I’d love to buy you a coffee, show you this properly, and hear how you’d think about it. If any of it resonates, and you’d want to be one of those people, even better.

Either way, thank you for reading this far.
